Hi EEC Families -

While I would go as far to say that all of our children have adapted well to the ongoing changes, both in school, at home, and throughout various parts of their lives, sometimes it's hard to tell - also some need more reassurance than others. Their lives have been siginficantly impacted and the "future" is a very hard concept for children to grasp, as is the past. Remember how they tell you "last week we went to Disney." Time is a very difficult concept. This Noggin resource has a lot of great information.

We use the ZONES OF REGULATION social/emotional curriculum. We have ways that we can scaffold this program even for our youngest pre-toddlers. We introduce the program in pre-toddlers. Most of this is done in our verbal communication, but we also do it using Solo Zones, quiet areas, and sensory timers and self regulation tools.

While we all want to protect our children, they learn from watching trusted adults work through their own emotions and talking it through with them. No emotion is bad - they are just emotions we have. Being sad, happy, frustrated, nervous, and excited are all part of life.
